Training Program for Neurodevelopmental Disabilities

Mission

The mission of the Training Program for Neurodevelopmental Disabilities is to foster the careers of the next generation of scientists who seek to discover causes and potential treatments for the class of disorders known as neurodevelopmental disabilities. This mission is achieved by training post-doctoral fellows (PhDs, MDs, and MD/PhDs) in basic, translational, and/or clinical research in selected world-class laboratories located at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania.

About the Training Program

The Training Program in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, was established in 1998 and has been continuously supported by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). The focus of the program is on understanding intellectual and developmental disabilities caused by chromosomal defects, inborn errors of metabolism (aminoacidurias, urea cycle defects, etc.) or hypoxia and trauma (perinatal insult, traumatic brain injury, etc.).
